Great Beginnings/Maternal Infant Early Childhood Home Visiting Program: This program offers voluntary home visiting to pregnant women and expectant fathers using the evidence-based model Parents as Teachers. Services are provided to families in New London County with a special emphasis in the targeted high need towns of Norwich, Griswold and Sprague. The goal of this program is to improve maternal and infant health as well as improve child health and developmental outcomes. The pregnant mothers achieved a 100% rate of compliance with prenatal care and all of the babies were born full term and healthy. 90% of the children were up to date on child health visits and immunizations, 100% of the program families had no substantiated child abuse or neglect while enrolled in the program. 657 home visits were completed. 132 parents and children were served.The Fatherhood Initiative Program:This program helps fathers and father figures throughout New London, Windham, and Middlesex counties to be fully engaged, positively involved and responsible fathers. The program provides group services and 1-1 specialized case management services in partnership with other agencies and services in Eastern Connecticut. Last year we provided services to 438 fathers and children 66% of the fathers increased their involvement with their children including reunification with their children, obtaining or increased parenting time, or gaining custody. 55 fathers completed the 12-week 24-7 Dad Program.The Family Support Program:This program provides comprehensive parent education, basic and emergency needs, children's services, and related supports to families and their children. The center is open to all, and the majority of families served are from New London County. Last year 836 parents and children were served. 5,154 meals were made by or given to families, the clothing donation room was utilized 1,547 times, 357 families received formula or diapers or both. 167 children were screened for developmental delay, 55 parents completed parenting education classes, and 1,198 sessions of informal counseling were held.
