Organizations Filed Purposes: TO ENGAGE AND INSPIRE THE CENTRAL INDIANA COMMUNITY THROUGH ENRICHING ARTS EXPERIENCES.

ARTISTIC PERFORMANCE: THE MISSION OF THE CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IS TO ENGAGE AND INSPIRE THE CENTRAL INDIANA COMMUNITY THROUGH ENRICHING ARTS EXPERIENCES. THE CENTER WAS ESTABLISHED IN 2005 BY THE CITY OF CARMEL AS A SEPARATE, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OPERATION AND PROGRAMMING OF THE INDIANA CITY'S MULTIDISCIPLINARY PERFORMING ARTS CAMPUS. EACH YEAR, THE CENTER PRESENTS THE FOLLOWING EVENT SERIES: CLASSICAL, JAZZ, COUNTRY, SONGBOOK, POP/BLUES/FOLK, PASSPORT, HOLIDAY AND FAMILY. THE CAMPUS FIRST WELCOMED THE PUBLIC IN JANUARY 2011 WITH THE OPENING OF THE PALLADIUM, AN ACOUSTICALLY SUPERIOR 1,600-SEAT CONCERT HALL. OPENING LATER THAT YEAR WERE THE 200-SEAT BLACK BOX STUDIO THEATER AND THE 500-SEAT PROSCENIUM THEATER, THE TARKINGTON. SINCE THE FIRST TUNING PERFORMANCES, THE CENTER, ITS SIX RESIDENT COMPANIES AND OTHER LOCAL ARTS ORGANIZATIONS USING THESE FACILITIES HAVE PRESENTED MORE THAN 2,200 PERFORMANCES AND DISTRIBUTED OVER 840,000 TICKETS TO PATRONS FROM ALL 92 COUNTIES IN INDIANA, ALL 50 STATES, AND 25 COUNTRIES.

EDUCATION AND OUTREACH: THE CENTER SERVES THE COMMUNITY THROUGH A RANGE OF EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES AND OUTREACH EVENTS, INCLUDING MUSIC AND DANCE CLASSES, INTERNSHIPS, CAMPUS TOURS, MASTERCLASSES, CLINICS, EXCLUSIVE ARTIST Q&A SESSIONS FOR PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS, THE PEANUT BUTTER & JAM PRESCHOOL PERFORMANCE SERIES, THE PALLADIUM PALS YOUTH READING PROGRAM, THE BOOKIES BOOK CLUB AND THE LUMINARIES WOMENS EDUCATIONAL GROUP. THESE PROGRAMS CREATE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, SUPPORT AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT AND ENABLE GREATER PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE FACILITIES. THE CENTER HOSTS AND IS PERMANENTLY AFFILIATED WITH THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK FOUNDATION, AN ORGANIZATION FOUNDED BY MICHAEL FEINSTEIN IN 2007 TO INSPIRE AND EDUCATE BY CELEBRATING THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK. THE FOUNDATION IS HOME TO A PUBLIC GALLERY AND ARCHIVES COMPRISING OVER 500,000 ITEMS, SUCH AS THE COLLECTIONS OF LYRICIST GUS KHAN AND COMPOSER AND PLAYWRIGHT MEREDITH WILLSON. EACH YEAR THE FOUNDATION CONDUCTS THE SONGBOOK ACADEMY SUMMER INTENSIVE, THE ONLY NATIONAL PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL SINGERS THAT IS DEDICATED SOLELY TO THE MUSIC OF THE SONGBOOK. THE FOUNDATION ALSO RECOGNIZES LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN SUPPORT OF THE SONGBOOK BY INDUCTING PERFORMERS AND SONGWRITERS INTO THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK HALL OF FAME.
