Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION IS TO BE A GREAT CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY DEDICATED TO PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH EXCELLENT TEACHING AND LEARNING IN THE FRANCISCAN AND LIBERAL ARTS TRADITION. TO PROVIDE AN EDUCATION DISTINGUISHED IN ITS ABILITY TO PREPARE TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERS FOR SERVICE TO THE WORLD. WE WELCOME STUDENTS OF ALL FAITHS WHO SEEK AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE FRAMED WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF OUR FRANCISCAN VALUES OF DIGNITY OF THE INDIVIDUAL, PEACE AND JUSTICE, RECONCILIATION, AND RESPONSIBLE STEWARDSHIP. OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THESE VALUES IS INFORMED BY REFLECTION ON THE LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST AND PRAYER. THE INSTITUTION GREW OUT OF THE DEDICATION AND VISION OF SISTER THERESA HACKELMEIER AND THE SISTERS OF ST. FRANCIS, OLDENBURG, WHO ESTABLISHED A SCHOOL IN OLDENBURG, INDIANA, IN 1851. THE COLLEGE WAS FOUNDED IN OLDENBURG IN 1936 AND MOVED TO INDIANAPOLIS IN 1937.

A CATHOLIC LIBERAL ARTS UNIVERSITY PROVIDING HIGHER EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS WITH DIVERSE ABILITIES, RELIGIOUS, CULTURAL, ETHNIC AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUNDS.

MARIAN UNIVERSITY SERVED 3,553 STUDENTS AS MEASURED FALL, 2019. THIS WAS COMPRISED OF 2,284 UNDERGRADUATE, 420 GRADUATE AND 718 DOCTORAL STUDENTS, INCLUDING 614 MEDICAL STUDENTS. THE UNIVERSITY OFFERED 44 MAJORS WITH DISTRIBUTION OF DECLARED UNDERGRADUATE MAJORS AS FOLLOWS: NURSING 36%, BUSINESS 16%, EDUCATION 10%, LIBERAL ARTS AND SCIENCES 31%, EXERCISE SCIENCE 6%, OTHER/UNDECIDED/EXPLORATORY 1%. ADDITIONALLY, 5 MASTER'S AND 4 DOCTORAL DEGREES AS WELL AS ON-LINE BACHELOR AND ASSOCIATE DEGREES AND VARIOUS CERTFICATIONS. OTHER DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION INCLUDES: MALE 38% AND FEMALE 62%, MINORITY 25%, AVERAGE SAT SCORE OF INCOMING FRESHMEN 1,085. 78% OF STUDENTS ARE FROM INDIANA. INCLUDED IN THE ABOVE DEMOGRAPHICS ARE TRADITIONAL FULL AND PART-TIME UNDERGRADUATES, ACCELERATED ON-LINE ADULT PROGRAMS, ACCELERATED 2ND NURSING, MEDICAL AND GRADUATE STUDENTS.

COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE IS THE ONLY COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE IN THE STATE OF INDIANA AND THE 2ND MEDICAL SCHOOL (ALONG WITH INDIANA UNIVERSITY MEDICAL SCHOOL). THE UNIVERSITY GRADUATED ITS FOURTH CLASS OF 154 STUDENTS IN SPRING 2020. 100% OF THESE GRADUATES WERE PLACED IN RESIDENCIES. THE PRIMARY GOAL IS TO PLACE PHYSICIANS IN INDIANA AND THE NEIGHBORING STATES. 35% CHOSE FAMILY MEDICINE. THE BIO-MEDICAL SCIENCES PROGRAMS, WHICH FALLS UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE, ARE DESIGNED TO ENHANCE MEDICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL APPLICATIONS WITH GRADUATE SCIENCES COURSES SIMILAR TO THE FIRST YEAR OF MEDICAL SCHOOL. SEVENTY-THREE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN FALL 2019.
