The mission of Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust (HCLT) is "to protect valuable natural resources for all generations."
HCLT accomplishes its Mission of "protecting important places for all generations" through four programs: . 1. Land Conservation. Using conservation easements, land donations, and purchasing land, HCLT seeks to conserve land that has high natural heritage value based on its conservation vision. . 2. Land Stewardship. HCLT annually monitors all of its 104 properties it conserves, both conservation easements and land it owns. Land Trust personnel manage and maintain the properties it owns, building new trails and protecting the natural assets of each property.
3. Education. HCLT feels that an educated constituency makes educated decisions. To that end HCLT conducts education programming through its newsletters, Village Nature Series, EcoTours, and Kids in Nature programming. . 4. Good Governance. HCLT has earned accreditation through the Land Trust Alliance in 2013 with renewal in 2019. HCLT operates in a manner as required by State and Federal mandates.
