Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF THE LAS VEGAS URBAN LEAGUE IS TO EMPOWER COMMUNITIES AND ENSURE EQUAL OPPORTUNITY FOR LOW INCOME CITIZENS. IT ESTABLISHES PROGRAMS AND SUPPORT POLICIES THAT ADDRESS SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC ISSUES FACED BY LOW INCOME AND MINORITY RESIDENTS OF CLARK COUNTY, NEVADA AND ITS OUTLYING AREAS. IT COLLABORATES WITH COMMUNITY MEMBERS ON STRATEGIES AND TECHNIQUES TO IMPLEMENT CHANGES THAT BRING ABOUT OPPORTUNITY AND ENABLES CITIZENS TO SECURE EONOMIC SELF-RELIANCE.

CHILDCARE: THE EARLY CHILDHOOD CONNECTION PROGRAM (ECC) IS A CHILDCARE SUBSIDY PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES ASSISTANCE FOR CHILDCARE SERVICES TO LOW INCOME FAMILIES WITH PARENTS WHO ARE WORKING, IN EDUCATION, OR TRAINING. THE PROGRAM WORKS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DIVISION OF WELFARE AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT IN SOUTHERN NEVADA. EDUCATION: THE 21ST CENTURY LEARNING CENTER PROVIDES EDUCATION SERVICES INCLUDING TUTORING, ENRICHMENT, AND PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT ACTIVITIES AT VARIOUS SCHOOLS. THE READ AND RISE COMPONENT TEACHES PARENTS SKILLS AND STRATEGIES TO HELP IMPROVE THEIR CHILD'S READING AND LITERACY SKILLS. THE FAMILY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM HELPS ASSIST INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES OVERCOME BARRIERS TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND WELL-BEING, GAIN SKILLS IN FINDING AND KEEPING A LIVABLE WAGE JOB, AND GAIN SKILLS TO LIVE INDEPENDENTLY AND ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES. EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE HELPS FACILITATE LIFE SKILLS TRAINING CLASSES AIMED TO PREPARE INDIVIDUALS TO FIND AND BE PREPARED FOR THE WORK PLACE. ENTREPRENEURSHIP: THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP CENTER PROVIDES BUSINESS EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CONSULTING TO ENTREPRENEURS AND SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED BUSINESSES. IT ALSO PROVIDES OPERATION IMPROVEMENT CONSULTING SERVICES. HEALTH: THE MLK CENTER WAS ESTABLISHED AS THE SENIOR SERVICES UNIT AIMED AT IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS FOR SENIORS, INCLUDING NUTRITION, HEALTH SCREENINGS, TRANSPORTATION, LIFE-SKILLS EDUCATION, COMPUTER TRAINING, EXERCISE CLASSES, AND SOCIALIZATION OPPORTUNITIES. THE WOMEN, INFANTS, AND CHILDREN (WIC) PROGRAM PROVIDES LOW INCOME WOMEN AND CHILDREN WITH SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD, NUTRITION EDUCATION, AND SCREENINGS, ALONG WITH REFERRALS FOR OTHER HEALTH, WELFARE AND SOCIAL SERVICES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO PROVIDES VARIOUS OTHER OUTREACH AND SUPPORTIVE HEALTH COMPONENTS WHICH INCLUDE EDUCATION/AWARENESS, CRISIS MANAGEMENT, AND REFERRAL SERVICES FOR LOW-INCOME INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES. HOUSING: THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROVIDES WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE (WAP) TO LOW INCOME RESIDENTS TO REDUCE THEIR ENERGY BILLS BY MAKING THEIR HOMES MORE ENERGY EFFICIENT. THE SENIOR HOME REPORT PROGRAM PROVIDES HOME SAFETY, TRAINING, HOME MODIFICATION, MAINTENANCE, AND REPAIRS. AS OF OCTOBER 2018, THIS IS NO LONGER A PROGRAM THAT URBAN LEAGUE IS SUPPORTING.
