OUR ORGANIZATION ADVANCES INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH, SUPPORTS HUMAN CAPITAL IN THE FIELD, INFORMS AND EDUCATES THE PUBLIC; AND ADVOCATES FOR SOUND PUBLIC POLICY FOR CHILD HEALTH AND WELLNESS. TOGETHER WITH OUR SUPPORTERS, WE ARE HELPING CHILDREN LEAD HEALTHY LIVES IN A DIGITAL WORLD.

CHILDREN AND SCREENS WORKS TOWARDS DEVELOPING HUMAN CAPITAL IN THE FIELD THROUGH CONVENING TRANSDISCIPLINARY AND MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCES, MEETINGS, AND EVENTS. MULTI-FIELD COLLABORATION AND INTERACTIONS ARE CRITICAL TO ENHANCE THE HOLISTIC UNDERSTANDING OF THE COGNITIVE, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL IMPACTS OF DIGITAL MEDIA ON TODDLERS, CHILDREN, AND ADOLESCENTS. THE MEDIA IMPACT SCREENING TOOLKIT WILL PROVIDE A ROADMAP FOR CREATING A COMPREHENSIVE SET OF INSTRUMENTS TO IDENTIFY AND ASSESS HEALTH AND WELLNESS CONCERNS RELATED TO DIGITAL MEDIA IN THE PEDIATRIC POPULATION. IN 2019, WE HELD A SCIENTIFIC RETREAT WITH LEADING INTERDISCIPLINARY EXPERTS TO SET OUT A PLAN AND BEGIN WORK ON THE TOOLKIT.

CHILDREN AND SCREENS HAS A MISSION TO ADVANCE AND SUPPORT OBJECTIVE, RIGOROUS SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INTO THE IMPACTS OF DIGITAL MEDIA ON CHILD HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT. WE ACTIVELY FUND RESEARCH BY INTERDISCIPLINARY EXPERTS, PUBLISH STATE-OF-THE-SCIENCE ARTICLES, AND IDENTIFY CRITICAL AREAS FOR FUTURE RESEARCH. CHILDREN AND SCREENS ALSO WORKS ACTIVELY TO INCORPORATE QUESTIONS INTO EXISTING NATIONAL LONGITUDINAL STUDIES AND ASSIST IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW QUESTIONS. IN 2019, WE FUNDED THE PUBLICATION OF A SCOPING REVIEW PROTOCOL TOWARD THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MEDIA IMPACT SCREENING TOOLKIT, AS PART OF A LARGER INVESTIGATION.

CHILDREN AND SCREENS' COMMUNICATION, OUTREACH, AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS PROVIDE EVIDENCE-BASED, ACTIONABLE INFORMATION ABOUT CHILDREN'S USE OF DIGITAL MEDIA AND ITS IMPACT ON THEIR HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENT TO PARENTS, EDUCATORS, HEALTH PROFESSIONALS, PUBLIC HEALTH EXPERTS, AND OTHER PROFESSIONALS AND STAKEHOLDERS. THESE PROGRAMS ALSO PROVIDE GUIDANCE REGARDING PARENTS AND CAREGIVER'S USE OF DIGITAL MEDIA AND ITS IMPACT ON CHILD HEALTH. THE INSTITUTE ACCOMPLISHES ITS MISSION THROUGH OUR WEBSITE, WORKSHOPS, KEYNOTE ADDRESSES, PARTICIPATION IN CONFERENCES, PUBLIC PANEL DISCUSSIONS, AND PRESS RELEASES. IN 2019, WE SUMMARIZED CHILDREN AND SCREENS' 2018 "DIGITAL MEDIA AND DEVELOPING MINDS" NATIONAL CONGRESS AND ADDED THE SUMMARY AND CONCOMITANT VIDEOS TO OUR WEBSITE. THROUGH ENGAGING COMMUNICATIONS CONSULTANTS, WE PROVIDED AWARENESS, ADVICE AND GUIDANCE TO THE PUBLIC ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF DIGITAL MEDIA ON YOUTH.
