Organizations Filed Purposes: TO MOBILIZE RESOURSES TO IMPROVE LIVES AND STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY. WE ENVISION A STRONGER COMMUNITY OF ENGAGED STAKEHOLDERS COLLABORATING TO CREATE SUSTAINABLE, POSITIVE CHANGE AND EMPOWER PEOPLE TO ACHIEVE THEIR POTENTIAL.

TO EFFECTIVELY MATCH COMMUNITY RESOURCES WITH COMMUNITY NEEDS AND ASPIRATIONS, UNITED WAY RAISES AND AWARDS FUNDS TO LOCAL AGENCIES FOR PROGRAMS THAT ACHIEVE MEASURABLE OUTCOMES IN TARGET AREAS CONSIDERED ESENTIAL FOR PROVIDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR A GOOD QUALITY OF LIFE. WE CONVENE, COLLABORATE, FUND, AND OFTEN MANAGE BROADER COMMUNITYWIDE INITIATIVES. ALL PROGRAMS MUST ALIGN WITH EDUCATION, INCOME, AND HEALTH GOALS.

INCOME (FINANCIAL STABILITY, SELF-SUFFICIENCY, CRISIS & BASIC NEEDS): FUNDED PROGRAMS THAT HELP INDIVIDUALS ACHIEVE NEW LEVELS OF INDEPENDENCE AND, IN SOME CASES, SELF-SUFFICIENCY.THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE JOB TRAINING AND PLACEDMENT, AS WELL AS SHELTERED EMPLOYMENT, FOR FOR ADULTS WITH PHYSICAL AND INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES OR OTHER DISADVANTAGES. FUNDED PROGRAMS ALSO PROVIDE EMERGENCY SHELTER FOR HOMELESS MEN, INCLUDING OVERNIGHT AND DAYTIME SHELTER, MEALS, CASE MANAGEMENT, EMPLOYMENT REFERRALS, AND SHOWER AND LAUNDRY FACILITIES. OTHER PROGRAMS PROVIDE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FOR IMMEDIATE BASIC NEEDS, SUCH AS FOOD, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICATION, UTILITY PAYMENT AND SHUT-OFF PREVENTION, INCLUDING THOSE FOR DISASTER VICTIMS AND AIDING MILITARY PERSONNEL WITH EMERGENCY OR SPECIAL NEEDS COMMUNICATIONS.

HEALTH (NUTRITION, MEDICAL CARE, THERAPY, COUNSELING,SAFETY, SOCIALIZATION): FUNDED PROGRAMS AND SERVICES INCLUDE TRANSITIONAL SHELTER FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN WHO ARE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, ABUSE, OR HOMELESSNESS; FREE WRAP-AROUND SERVICES, INCLUDING COUNSELING, MEDICAL EVALUATIONS AND EXAMS, AND VICTIM ADVOCACY FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IMPACTED BY SEXUAL ABUSE; NUTRITIOUS MEALS, SOCIALIZATION, HEALTH, AND COMPANIONSHIP EVENTS AND SERVICES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS; COMMUNITY HEALTH AND SAFETY PROGRAMS AND BLOOD SERVICES; SUBSIDIZED PARTICIPATION IN HEALTH, WELLNESS AND FITNESS PROGRAMS FOR NEEDY FAMILIES, MATCHING AND MENTORING PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS FROM ONE-PARENT/ GUARDIAN OR OTHERWISE STRUGGLING FAMILIES.

EDUCATION (SCHOOL READINESS, ACADEMIC SUPPORT, DEVELOPMENT): FUNDED PROGRAMS INCLUDED SCHOOL-BASED MENTORING AND AFTER-SCHOOL SERVICES, TUTORING AND HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE; CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, LEADERSHIP AND LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMS; ARTS, DRAMA, RECREATION AND PHYSICAL FITNESS PROGRAMS; ABUSE PREVENTION PROGRAMS FOR COMMUNITY, SCHOOLS, AND CHILD VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE; ANTI-BULLYING, BODY SAFETY AND PARENTING CLASSES; AND SUMMER YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, LEADERSHIP, AND ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS.
