Organizations Filed Purposes: THE GOOD SHEPHERD COMMUNITY CLINIC, INC. EXISTS SO THAT THE WORKING POOR AND OTHERS WHO LACK HEALTHCARE ACCESS RECEIVE QUALITY CARE AND IMPROVED HEALTH OUTCOMES.

PROVIDE HEALTHCARE SERVICES TO THOSE WHO LACK ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE SERVICES.

THE MEDICAL PROGRAM IS THE PRINCIPAL PROGRAM OF THE CLINIC AND PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE PRIMARY CARE THROUGH THE PATIENT'S LIFESPAN THROUGH STAFF PROVIDERS AS WELL AS STUDENTS AND VOLUNTEERS. THE GSCC IS THE LARGEST RURAL CHARITY CLINIC IN OKLAHOMA. THE MAJORITY OF THE CLINIC'S PATIENTS HAVE MULTIPLE CHRONIC DISEASES THAT ARE ONLY COMPOUNDED BY THEIR SOCIOECONOMIC STATUS AND VARIOUS SOCIAL DETERMINATES. THROUGH INNOVATIVE APPROACHES TO HEALTHCARE DELIVERY SUCH AS WELLNESS AND TRAUMA INFORMED CARE, THE PATIENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO TAKE A PROACTIVE APPROACH TO IMPROVING THEIR HEALTH OUTCOMES. APPROACHING HEALTH IMPROVEMENT WITH A WHOLE PATIENT PERSPECTIVE HAS INCREASED THE CLINIC'S EFFECTIVENESS IN BUILDING HEALTHY PEOPLE.

THE DENTAL PROGRAM IS EXPANDING TO MORE PREVENTATIVE CARE AND MOVING FROM AN EXTRACTION-ONLY TO MINOR RESTORATIVE CARE: INCLUDING CLEANINGS AND FILLINGS BECAUSE THE NEED IS GREAT. THROUGH STAFF AND VOLUNTEER DENTISTS WORK TO KEEP UP WITH DEMAND. POOR HEALTH, INCLUDING DENTAL HEALTH, IS AT EPIDEMIC PROPORTIONS IN OKLAHOMA. THE GSCC OFFERS CRITICAL ACCESS TO DENTAL CARE AND RELIEF TO THOSE WITH OFTEN MULTIPLE ABSCESSES, AND ROTTEN TEETH. THE OPTICAL PROGRAM, LED BY VOLUNTEER OPTOMETRISTS, PROVIDES EXAMS, FRAMES AND LENSES TO THOSE WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY AFFORDING THEM. PATIENTS ARE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE AN EYE EXAM EVERY OTHER YEAR; UNLESS THEY ARE DIABETIC, THEN AVAILABILITY IS ONCE PER YEAR. THE GSCC PARTNERS WITH THE LOCAL LIONS CLUB TO HELP PATIENTS WITH THEIR VISION NEEDS.

THE PHARMACEUTICAL PROGRAM INCLUDES A PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH 22-25 PHARMACEUTICAL COMPANIES TO RECEIVE FREE, NON-NARCOTIC MEDICATIONS SUCH AS INSULIN, INHALERS AND BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION AT NO COST TO THE PATIENT OR THE CLINIC. THE PHARMACY PROGRAM IS LED BY THE CLINIC'S PART-TIME PHARMACIST, WHO WORKS ONE DAY PER WEEK TO DISTRIBUTE PATIENT MEDICATIONS ALONG WITH TWO PHARMACY TECHS/PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE COORDINATORS WHO MEETS WITH EACH INDIVIDUAL PATIENT TO HELP THEM WITH THE REQUIRED PAPERWORK. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM THE CLINIC PROVIDES APPROXIMATELY 2 TO 3 MILLION IN FREE MEDICATIONS FOR THE CLINIC'S PATIENTS EACH YEAR.
