Organizations Filed Purposes: Pickens Museum is chartered as an educational institution whose collection of modern and contemporary art reflects the vitality, complexity and unfolding patterns of art and presents exhibitions to national, and international audiences. In pursuit of this goal, the Museum has collected over 1,000 works of painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, and native American jewelry. Pickens Museum includes Native American Turquoise Jewelry by Tanya Rafael, Jolene Bird and others; African American art by Malvin Gray Johnson, Faith Ringgold, Woodrow Nash; Native American art by Allan Houser, Josue Sanchez, Yatika Starr Fields, Ed Natiya, Oreland Joe, Clyde Otipoby, CJ Wells; Oklahoma art by John Free, Becky Manschreck, Roger Disney, Traci Bird; Bronze Sculpture by Donald De Lue, Paul Manship, Albert Wein, Jo Davidson, Bryant Baker, Malvina Hoffman, Paul Manship; Verdite Sculpture from Zimbabwe by James Tandi

In FY2020 Pickens Museum added over 20 acquisitions to our collections including Sculpture by Stephen Schwark, Native American Jewelry by Jolene Bird, Bronze Sculptures by Donald De Lue, Jo Davidson, Bryant Baker, Charles Pratt, and Albert Wein; Paintings by Robin Bray and Yatika Starr Fields; and Etchings by Pablo Picasso.

Pickens Museum put on two exhibitions in 2020 at our location at City Central at 400 E. Central in Ponca City. The first exhibition was a mural called the Three Faces of the Pioneer Woman consists of close-ups of the face of Ponca City's own Pioneer WomanStatue shown from three different angles to create a new symbol of the Pioneer Woman symbol for our era. The mural is 32 feet long and 12 feet high. The mural is on permanent display at City Central. The second exhibition was a display titled "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" which includes eight serigraphs by Faith Ringgold that depict the major events in the Civil Rights Movement including Freedom Summer in Mississippi in 1964.
