Organizations Filed Purposes: DIVERSE CLINICAL EXPERIENCE: AT THE START OF THE FIRST YEAR CURRICULUM STUDENTS ARE ASSIGNED A FAMILY COPING WITH A DISABILITY OR CHRONIC ILLNESS TO FOLLOW FOR TWO YEARS. EACH STUDENT ALSO HAS A COMMUNITY PHYSICIAN MENTOR WITH WHOM THEY DEVELOP A FOUR YEAR RELATIONSHIP. STUDENTS ENGAGE IN A COMMUNITY PUBLIC HEALTH PROJECT, EMPHASIZING TCMC'S COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF HEALTH CARE IN OUR REGION. IN ADDITION, EACH STUDENT MUST COMPLETE 100 HOURS OF COMMUNITY SERVICE IN NORTHEAST OR NORTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA. TCMC FACULTY HAVE BEEN RECOGNIZED NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY FOR THEIR SCHOLARLY WORK, PUBLISHING HUNDREDS OF SCHOLARLY PAPERS, AND PRESENTING AT CONFERENCES, AND TO DATE HAVE BEEN AWARDED OVER $5.1 MILLION IN RESEARCH GRANTS AND $5.8 MILLION IN TRAINING AND EDUCATION GRANTS. THE COLLEGE FOCUSES ON CREATING A UNIQUE MEDICAL EDUCATION EXPERIENCE THAT FOSTERS COLLABORATION AMONG INTERDISCIPLINARY TEAM MEMBERS, PATIENT-CENTERED CARE, AND IMPROVING THE HEALTH OF THE LOCA

Research Programs - The College is in the early stages of developing its infrastructure. The College's research programs focus on the needs of patient populations in Northeastern Pennsylvania, where increased incidences of some cancers, diabetes, cardiovascular and neurological diseases are strongly associated with an aging population. The College's programs support basic and clinical science through biomedical, behavioral, epidemiological and health sciences research.

Student Affairs Activities focus on the support of individual students throughout their time at TCMC by supporting students' learning and development inside and outside of the classroom. This is achieved through student involvement and leadership development opportunities that form an integral component of each student's educational experience. In addition, the office coordinates career planning activities for students.
