Organizations Filed Purposes:
The African Education Program's mission is to empower the youth of Zambia through education opportunities and leadership development to break the cycle of poverty in their communities. On a daily basis, over 400 vulnerable youth and orphans take advantage of AEP's pilot educational resource center in Kafue, Zambia. They have access to programs focused on quality education through high school and college scholarships and adademic tutoring in all major subject (7th - 12th grade). Extracurricular opportunities include leadership development and volunterism, HIV/AIDS and health awareness, nutrition and food security (serving over 200 meals daily), the arts and creativity, and gender equity. AEP's model is based on creating opportunities so that its beneficiaries can overcome any of the challenges they face that may prevent them from realizing their full potential. Program service accomplishments include a Scholarship Fund which awarded 236 high school and 43 college scholarships to vulnerable youth in Zambia. To date, the scholarship fund has enabled hundreds of youth to graduate high school and over 65 to graduate from leading Zambian colleges and universities. Operation of the pilot educational resource center provides academic support and extracurricular activities to over 400 vulnerable youth. Nutrition Program serves over 230 nutritious meals daily (5 times per week).
