Organizations Filed Purposes: The mission of the Y is "to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through prgrams that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all". At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. That's why we focus our work on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

HEALTHY LIVING - THE Y IS A LEADING VOICE ON HEALTH AND WELL-BEING. WE BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH, AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH HEALTHY LIVING IN SPIRIT, MIND, AND BODY. AS A RESULT, MORE THAN 49,000 PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE, AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH. THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT AS OUR NATION AND THE GREATER SAN ANTONIO AREA STRUGGLES WITH OBESITY AND CHRONIC DISEASES, FAMILIES STRUGGLE WITH WORK/LIFE BALANCE, AND INDIVIDUALS SEARCH FOR PERSONAL FULFILLMENT. OUR PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE, AND OPEN TO ALL FAITHS, BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES, AND INCOME LEVELS. SCHOLARSHIPS AND SUBSIDIES ARE OFFERED TO ALL INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. IN 2014, WE PROVIDED OVER $1,132,000 OF DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO MORE THAN 33,000 INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES WHO OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE FACED ECONOMIC BARRIERS TO PARTICIPATION. FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS REGARDING THESE PROGRAMS AND THEIR IMPACT, SEE SCHEDULE O.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY - OUR YMCA BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING OUR NEIGHBORS. WE HAVE BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO OUR COMMUNITY'S MOST CRITICAL SOCIAL NEEDS FOR MORE THAN 135 YEARS. Y PROGRAMS SUCH AS OUR MILITARY OUTREACH INITIATIVE, HAVEN FOR HOPE PRESCHOOL FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES, PRECIOUS MINDS NEW CONNECTIONS PARENTING EDUCATION, AND TEENAGE LIFESKILLS PROGRAMS ARE EXAMPLES OF HOW WE DELIVER TRAINING, RESOURCES, AND SUPPORT THAT HELPS EFFECT CHANGE, BRIDGE GAPS, AND OVERCOME OBSTACLES. WE ALSO MOTIVATE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY TO GIVE BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITY THROUGH VOLUNTEERISM AND PHILANTHROPIC GIVING. IN 2014, WE ENGAGED 3,094 VOLUNTEERS IN OUR PROGRAMS AND 3,135 DONORS TO OUR ANNUAL CAMPAIGN TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THOSE WHO OTHERWISE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR PROGRAMS DUE TO ECONOMIC CONSTRAINTS. FOR ADDITIONAL DETAILS REGARDING THESE PROGRAMS AND THEIR IMPACT, SEE SCHEDULE O.
