Organizations Filed Purposes: The Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired is a training and resource center that equips Alaskans with sustained vision loss for success in life and work. Services include vocational rehabilitation, a low vision clinic, a visually impaired senior Alaskans program, statewide outreach and support, support for independent youth, and community awareness.

The center offers the following services:Older Blind (VISA) serving Alaskans 55 and older, within catchment area, with vision loss.Rural outreach and community-based adaptive skill training in Alaska for people with vision disabilities. Federal Braille in the Schools Grant through the State of Alaska to support public school services to students with sight loss. Instruction in adaptive skills to equip people with vision loss to keep or gain employment. Services include orientation and mobility, daily living skills, adaptive computer use, Braille, manual skills and work site assessments, reimbursed by Fees from Alaska Division of Rehabilitation and other payers.
