Organizations Filed Purposes: TO CONSERVE, ENHANCE, AND ENCOURAGE THE WISE USE OF NATURAL RESOURCES. TTCD'S CORE VALUES ARE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR STAKEHOLDERS AND TO FOSTER COOPERATIVE RELATIONSHIPS.

HABITAT MONITORING AND RESTORATION PROGRAM - THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, TTCD MONITORS AND RESTORES FISH AND WILDLIFE HABITAT. IN 2019, THIS PROGRAM WAS FUNDED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE US FISH & WILDLIFE SERVICE, THE USDA NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SERVICE, TYONEK NATIVE CORPORATION, NATIONAL OCEANIC ATMOSPHERIC ADMINISTRATION, COOK INLET REGIONAL INC, AND MULTIPLE OTHER PARTNERS. IN 2019, TTCD COORDINATED A PIKE TASK FORCE AND WORKED WITH PARTNERS TO REMOVE MORE THAN 1,800 INVASIVE PIKE FROM THE DISTRICT, BRINGING THE TOTAL TO 3,101 PIKE REMOVED; IMPLEMENTED YEAR 4 OF CONTROL EFFORTS ON 20 ACRES OF INVASIVE PLANTS IN BELUGA LEADING TO A 95% REDUCTION IN INFESTATION DENSITY OF ORANGE HAWKWEED; WORKED WITH PARTNERS TO IMPROVE SALMON HABITAT BY REMOVING TWO FISH PASSAGE BARRIERS THROUGH CULVERT REPLACEMENTS, OPENING A TOTAL OF 4.9 MILES OF UPSTREAM HABITAT AND 20 LAKES ACRES; CONTINUED MONITORING EFFORTS FOR STREAM TEMPERATURE AND JUVENILE SALMON POPULATIONS IN TYONEK AND BELUGA THROUGH THE TYONEK WATERSHED ACTION PLAN; AND COMPLETED 5 SUBMISSIONS TO ADFG'S ANADROMOUS WATERWAYS CATALOG OFFICIALLY DOCUMENTING JUVENILE AND ADULT SALMON DATA IN THE DISTRICT.

TYONEK GROWN - THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, TTCD IMPROVES FOOD SECURITY THROUGH COMMUNITY AGRICULTURE. IN 2019, THIS PROGRAM WAS FUNDED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE USDA NATURAL RESOURCES CONSERVATION SERVICE, TYONEK NATIVE CORPORATION, ALASKA VILLAGE INITIATIVE, AND US DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. IN 2019, TTCD MANAGED THE TYONEK GARDEN TO HARVEST 2,800 LBS OF FRESH PRODUCE IN TYONEK, A PORTION OF WHICH WAS PROVIDED TO ELDERS THROUGH THE TYONEK ELDERS LUNCH PROGRAM AND TO YOUTH THROUGH THE TEBUGHNA SCHOOL CAFETERIA AND DAYCARE LUNCH PROGRAM. TTCD HIRED AND TRAINED 6 LOCAL YOUTH INTERNS IN GARDENING AND INVASIVE PLANT IDENTIFICATION SKILLS. TTCD ALSO DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED A PRODUCE PROCESSING SHED INCREASING EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY DURING HARVEST AND PACKAGING, UTILIZED LOW TUNNELS AND ROW COVER AS NEW STRATEGIES TO IMPROVE PRODUCTION, AND UTILIZED A HYDROPONICS SYSTEM IN THE TEBUHGNA SCHOOL TO ALLOW FOR YEAR-ROUND PRODUCTIONS AND CONSUMPTION FOR TEBUGHNA STUDENTS.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE - THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, TTCD PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE RELATED TO CONSERVATION, INCLUDING SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES THROUGH WASTE REUCTION AND ENERGY CONSERVATION. IN 2019, TTCD WORKED WITH ALASKA TRIBAL CONSERVATION ALLIANCE TO ASSIST ALASKA TRIBAL CONSERVATION DISTRICTS WITH PLANNING EFFORTS, PARTICIPATING IN 2 REGIONAL CONFERENCES IN FAIRBANKS AND ANCHORAGE AND THREE SITE VISITS TO TOGIAK, NONDALTON, AND KETCHIKAN TO PROVIDE OUTREACH AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE. TTCD ALSO PARTICIPATED IN TRAININGS TO BECOME CERTIFIED CONSERVATION PLANNERS.
