Organizations Filed Purposes: The Copper River Watershed Project promotes a salmon-rich, intact watershed to support culturally diverse communities by forming partnerships for watershed-scale planning and projects.

Copper River Watershed programs include watershed education, fish passage and fish habitat restoration, invasive plant control, stormwater mitigation, and sustainable tourism development.

Invasive Plant Management: CRWP is working to facilitate partnerships among public and private land managers and land owners in both the Copper River Basin and the Copper River Delta area to identify and treat invasive plants. Invasive plants are particularly aggressive and threaten fish and wildlife habitat by crowding out native plants, reducing foraging opportunities for native fish and wildlife.

Fish Habitat Restoration: CRWP works to identify, monitor and restore salmon habitat throughout the Copper River drainage. By convening state and federal agency and community partners, we form planning teams and partnerships to identify salmon habitat data gaps, and key salmon habitat locations in need of restoration.

Community tourism planning: as part of our mission, we are working with local government and business partners to attract small scale independent travelers to the region to help build a sustainable tourism economy. The Organization develops story-telling resources for The Alaska App, a smart phone app, to enrich the visitor experience in the Copper Basin. The Organization also facilitates organizing the Salmon Jam Festival, a destination weekend event that draws visitors to Cordova from Anchorage and Fairbanks.
