AHTNA HERITAGE STRIVES TO DOCUMENT FOR POSPERITY THE AHTNA LANGUAGE. WE ALSO HAVE A PROGRAM FOR TEACHING YOUTH THE AHTNA LANGUAGE.
AHTNA HERITAGE FOUNDATION PROVIDES ONE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: WALTER CHARLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP. THE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS, WITH A MAXIMUM OF $2,000 PER SEMESTER, FOR TWO SEMESTERS EACH YEAR. APPLICATION DEADLINES ARE TWICE PER YEAR. A SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE MEETS TWICE EACH YEAR TO APPROVE AND DISAPPROVE APPLICANTS. SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON AHTNA TRIBAL SHARES FOR ELIGIBILITY.
AHTNA HERITAGE FOUNDATION RUNS AND MAINTAINS A CULTURAL CENTER. THE CENTER DISPLAYS INTERPRETIVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE AHTNA CULTURE AND HOUSES A LARGE ARCHIVE OF INFORMATION. THE GOAL OF THE CENTER IS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC AND AHTNA PEOPLE AS WELL AS MAINTAIN A RECORD FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS. THE CENTER EMPLOYS YOUTH WORKERS IN THE SUMMER AND ALSO IS A VENUE FOR SELLING AHTNA ARTWORK TO THE PUBLIC.
