Habitat for Humanity International is a Christian organization and welcomes volunteers from all faiths who are committed to Habitat's goal of eliminating poverty. Homes are built and sold with no profit made to homeowners that may not otherwise be able to obtain a home loan. Homeowners contribute 'sweat equity' in addition to modest house payments which are then reused to build additional homes.
During the 2019 tax year, Central Peninsula Habitat for Humanity continued to work with two families placed in homes during the previous year. Both families were placed in homes as renters until their sweat equity hours could be completed during the current tax year. Those hours were completed and one closing occurred during the year. The second closing occurred just after the end of fiscal year 2020. Habitat also located its next build site and opened applications for the next build.
