Organizations Filed Purposes: To provide for the lives of seniors living in the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and enable seniors to live as independently as possible for as long as possible by providing nutritious congregate and home delivered meals, isolation prevention, healthy aging, and affordable senior housing.

To provide congregate and home delivered nutritional services, recreational activities, advocacy services and affordable senior housing to senior citizens in the Wasilla, Alaska area.

The Nutrition Program - Is designed to reduce hunger and food insecurity, promote socialization of older individuals, promote the health and well-being of older individuals and delay adverse health conditions through access to nutrition and other disease prevention and health promotion services. The program includes: - Congregate Meals: provided in a congregate setting at the Wasilla Area Senior and Mid-Valley Senior Centers to individuals aged 60 years and older. - Home-Delivered Meals: provided to homebound individuals aged 60 years and over and their spouse.Transportation to and from the WASI center for congregate meals. - Transportation to and from the WASI center for congregate meals.

Senior In-Home Services: This program is designed to assist seniors in their homes, allowing them to remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.Chore Services: WASI senior care workers help with housework, meal preparation, sidewalk maintenance and other activities seniors may find difficult to do on their own.Respite Care: Provides substitute in-home care for adults with declining physical or cognitive functions so full-time caregivers can take time for themselves.Supplemental Services: Helps low-income seniors maintain a safe and healthy environment to avoid a crisis that would jeopardize their ability to remain independent in their own home. Assists with medical, dental, mobility equipment, and home modification costs not covered by other benefits.

Healthy Aging Program: This program is designed to promote isolation prevention of older individuals, promote their health & well-being and delay adverse health conditions. The program includes:Club 50 gym, located on the WASI campus, for individuals 50 years of age and older with state-of-the-art exercise equipment and a variety of fitness classes.Health Promotion/Disease Prevention: self-managed health and wellness activities and evidence-based classes held at the Club50 gym and at satellite sites throughout the Mat-Su Valley designed to promote a safe and effective environment for seniors to take control of their own health and well-being.Senior activities: computer lab, Mary Hall lending library, games room, field trips, potlucks/dances, Chaplain services, and Senior Education Classes.
