Organizations Filed Purposes: B2R's mission is to build a fellowship of high capacity young leaders in Africa to accelerate the growth of their countries and transform lives. B2R helps globally educated graduates return home and launch their careers in Africa. B2R encourages entrepreneurship and foreign direct investment to promote private enterprise in Rwanda and Africa.

The B2R Scholars Program was launched in 2011 at the request of the Rwandan government to increase the number of students earning full scholarships to attend international universities outside of Rwanda. During their four years studying abroad, B2R Scholars are provided the following support network: Support coordinators to monitor their progress and well-being while they are abroad, Volunteer U.S. host families to welcome them to the US and become their home away from home, especially during holiday breaks, Financial sponsors to cover essential student expenses not covered by their university scholarships which includes winter clothes, laptops, cellphones, health insurance, books, dormitory supplies, small living stipends and airfare to return home for summer internships.

B2R's Career Development team in Kigali has primary responsibility for helping B2R Scholars return home and launch their careers. The CD team has built strong working relationships with an extensive network of over 140 employers operating across several industry sectors in Rwanda. They also provide a variety of training and support services that instill in the B2R Scholars a confident vision of purpose, service and achievement in Africa. Scholars are encouraged to return to Rwanda or their home countries for internships each of the three summer breaks while studying abroad, particularly the last one before their senior year. In 2019 The BRIDGE arranged 138 summer internships. The BRIDGE team also supported 21 B2R Fellows, 5 UNL, 22 GGAST Alumnae, and 27 other diasporas in permanent jobs summing up to 77 placements.

For the first 16 months of the program, the Scholars immerse themselves in B2R's rigorous Leadership Academy located at the B2R Training Center on the campus of the University of Rwanda - College of Business and Economics in Kigali. The Scholars make a full-time commitment to the Leadership Academy without any guarantee they will be awarded a university scholarship. In addition, they sign a written commitment that if they are awarded an internation scholarship they will return to work in Africa after their university graduation.
