SSA disseminates information to the scientific community through its two prestigious journals as well as to policymakers via individual meetings and briefings. SSA collaborates with other scientific organizations to support the study of earthquakes and the application of that knowledge to improve public safety and resilience. The Society also supports a Washington-based lobbyist that maintains regular dialogue with federal lawmakers and other federal policymakers.SSA actively cultivates the future of earthquake science and seismology by engaging students and professionals, by recognizing excellence in the seismology community, and by raising public awareness of the science and its value to society.
