It has come to play a unique and vital role in efforts to bring relief to those affected by toxic exposures from the environment or the workplace through a detoxification regimen involving exercise, sauna, vitamin and mineral supplements and other elements. In 2016, FASE staff provided consulting and editorial services for several projects implementing detoxification as a rehabilitative therapy. This included scientific support for a project intended to provide detoxification services to Vietnamese citizens affected by exposures to the defoliant Agent Orange.

Improving Mathematics and Science Education:Each year, Americas high tech industries must import tens of thousands of workers to fill jobs for which they can find no qualified American graduates. In an economy driven by technological innovation, skills in science and mathematics are essential. Under grants received in previous years from public sector funders including the National Science Foundation, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of Education, as well as corporate and foundation partners, the Foundation produced more than 70 educational video programs designed to invigorate mathematics and science instruction. As an ongoing activity, Foundation staff work to ensure that teachers are aware of these materials and to provide them for use in programs to improve student performance and teacher skill.
