The Anaheim Family YMCA is a trusted community asset, working with hundreds of community partners, to address prevalent needs within the cities of Anaheim, Stanton, Cypress, and La Palma. Every day, the Anaheim Family YMCA takes on important challenges that shape the future youth and our community - challenges like closing the academic achievement gap, preventing childhood obesity, instilling lifelong values, and giving back. Services are offered at affordable fees for the community with financial assistance available for those who cannot afford the full fee. Together, we address critical needs in our community; needs like school-readiness, water safety, safe spaces, health and connections. In 2020, the Anaheim Family YMCA's t

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT Through the Anaheim Family YMCA's Youth Development programs, youth and teens have safe spaces to explore their unique talents and interests, take a greater interest in learning, and make smarter life choices. All YMCA youth programs promote: Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility. These building blocks of life are modeled by Y staff and volunteers and instilled in youth every day. AFTERSCHOOL CARE: Started in 1999, the Anaheim Achieves after-school program is offered at 46 schools throughout Anaheim (35 elementary, six junior high and five high schools) in person and virtually in partnership with the Anaheim Elementary, Savanna, Magnolia and Anaheim Union High School districts, City of Anaheim, California Department of Education and Orange County Department of Education. The program has received state and national recognition for its commitment to community collaboration and dedication to educational excellence. Anaheim Achieves provides a safe, positive, and enriching place for more than 8,500 students achieve in school and in life. Character Builders is offered at Cerritos Elementary in response to the growing need for an after-school program at a Non-ASES funded site. YOUTH SPORTS: Through YMCA Youth Sports programs, more than 3,400 youth learn about teamwork, becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they will carry with them throughout their lives. Youth sports programs and classes are held at the city community centers and gyms: Downtown Anaheim Community Center, Downtown Anaheim Youth Center, West Anaheim Youth Center, Twila Reid Park and Stanton Park: Youth Basketball introduces boys and girls ages 3-17 to basic basketball skills, rules, methods of playing, teamwork, and character development. Preschool Sports caters specifically to 36-year-old through three different sports: Basketball, Soccer and T-ball. In Youth Gymnastics, children enjoy increased physical activity, stretching, discipline, and an incredible opportunity for parent and child bonding. Gymnastics classes include Mini Stars (ages l-3), Little Stars (ages 3-4), Beginning Stars (ages 5-8), Intermediate Stars (ages 8-12), Youth Tumbling, and Intramural Sports. PERFORMING ARTS: Our Performing Arts programs for youth are open and welcoming to all and encourage, nurture, and provide an outlet for creativity while strengthening the body, mind, and spirit of all who are involved. These programs include: Preschool Ballet Classes (ages 3-6), Beginning Ballet and Tap (ages 5-up), Intermediate Ballet Classes (ages 6-up), Advanced Ballet Classes (ages 7-up), Youth Hip Hop, Polynesian Dance, Contemporary Dance, Parent & Child Dance, Jazz Dance, and Musical Theater Class. SUMMER RESIDENT CAMPS: The Anaheim Family YMCA's first camp started in 1924, and continues today, impacting over 360 youth and teens each year. The program is run by trained volunteers and staff who have dedicated their lives to helping young people grow physically, mentally, and spiritually. YMCA Summer Camps offer campers opportunities to build and strengthen positive character values and appreciate the differences in others. There are two week-long resident camps: Camp Fox (ages 13-18, located on Catalina Island)- (due to the COVID-19 pandemic this camp was moved to a virtual camp experience) and Camp Miehana (ages 7-12, located at Camp Arbolado in the San Bernardino Mountains). Weekend/Overnight Camp: As a shorter outdoor adventure in 2020 we offered a Winter Weekend Camp. Our objective was to provide a camp experience for members (4th through 8th grade) that might just not be ready yet for an entire week away from home, as well as a new experience for returning campers. Activities include archery, low/mid/high ropes course, nature hike, crafts, snow play/sledding, smores, as well as hallmarks of our Anaheim Y camps such as campfire skits, songs, team-building, and personal goal setting. For its inaugural year we had 40 participants. DAY CAMPS: YMCA Day Camps provide opportunities for children when they are not in school during Winter, Summer and Spring breaks. Day Camps continue fun learning experiences until school starts again, helping to close the achievement gap that can result in youth falling back when they begin school again. YMCA Day Camps provide fun, safe, all-day learning environment. SWIM LESSONS: At the Y, swim lessons save and enrich lives. Youth learn not only how to have fun learning to swim, they gain lifelong confidence i.e.: out of the water. Trained YMCA staff teach essential swimming and water safety skills to more than 2,900 youth ages infant-17 years in a fun and positive environment. Adult classes are also available at select locations. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math): According to the U.S. Department of Education, all young people should be prepared to think deeply and to think well so that they have the chance to become the innovators, educators, researchers, and leaders who can solve the most pressing challenges facing our nation and our world, both today and tomorrow. But, right now, not enough of our youth have access to quality STEM learning opportunities and too few students see these subjects as possible careers. In response, the Y is creating opportunities for youth to explore STEM and develop decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills by helping students learn to solve problems, spark curiosity and creativity, reshape "failure", interest and prepare students for future STEM careers and reinvent the way students see and feel about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. AVANZA (workforce development): The Avanza program was developed in 2019 in partnership with Disneyland resort in an effort to help with Workforce development. The Avanza program has been designed to:support soft skills development, ensure education and skills development are geared towards the learner and lead to jobs, establish stronger connections between job skills training and employers needs, and work with and serve under-served youth in our diverse community. The curriculum focuses on 4 soft skills:social skills help people get along well with others; communication skills refer to the specific types of communication used in the workplace, and include oral, written, non-verbal, and listening skills; higher-order thinking consists of problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making; and self-control/positive self-concept refers to ones ability to delay gratification, control impulses, direct and focus attention, manage emotions, and regulate behaviors. Self-control is anintrapersonal skill, foundational to manyothers: it enables successful decision-making, resolution of conflict, and coherent communication. Students can participate in 3 Pathways: Resume Building, Interview Skills, and Networking. In 2019-2020 the Avanza program served over 1,300 students in Anaheim.

HEALTHY LIVING The Y is for Healthy Living. We believe that being healthy means more than being physically active. It's about maintaining a balanced spirit, mind, and body. The Y brings families closer together, encourages good health and connects people through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. Kaboom! Playground: The Anaheim Family YMCA partnered with Disney, City of Anaheim and Kaboom! to build playgrounds throughout the City of Anaheim. Since 2011, we have helped build over 12 parks that promote children getting the balance and active play they need to thrive. The park builds not only promote play but healthy living-by providing active spaces, exercise spaces, and walking trails and social responsibility- the park is designed by kids and built by the surrounding community. HEALTH, WELL-BEING, AND FITNESS: The YMCA has many programs that engage youth and adults to get active through sports and fitness. FAMILY TIME: Providing opportunities for every family to build stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life balance, and become more engaged with their communities. FOOD PROGRAM:The Y launched inSeptember2014an After-School Food Program to provide children with nutrition so they can be healthy, succeed in school and are not at risk of going hungry. The after-school food program was created to fill the late afternoon hunger gap by providing healthy meals for students in the Anaheim Achieves after school program. Data revealed that 85% of the students in the Anaheim Elementary School District are provided with a free or reduced-price lunch, and 7% self-report insufficient food at home to meet their basic needs. Thanks to our partnership with the Anaheim Elementary School District, we are ensuring that over 2,000 children in our after-school programs have access to healthy meals during out-of-school time, when they need them most.As part of our focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y is committed to keeping children nourished and teaching them healthy habits all year long. Our Food Program has expanded and is now feeding all Anaheim Achieves students at every Junior High School in the Anaheim Union High School District.Approximately 8,790 meals are ordered every week.Meal is served between 4:45 5:15 p.m.TheGrab & Go Program began in March 2020 in response to the growingconcernoffood insecurity, affectingour community, directly relatedto COVID-19.Due to school closures, whilemany children had no access to foodand meals, the Y stepped in and createdGrab & Go Meal distributionspotswhere families can drive upto23 elementary sites and pick up pre-packaged meals, loose food items and resource packets.During this time, the Y also recognized 11 neighborhoods that needed extra support; these specific neighborhoods were not being provided food by any other food providers, including the school district. It startedwith a collaboration with Anaheim Resort Transportationdonatingbussestogo directly into the identified neighborhoods, funded by Anaheim Community Foundation and the Angels to serve meals. By the end of June 2020,the Y served over 900,000 meals.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY The Y is for Social Responsibility, where we unite people around the importance of giving back. We are committed to supporting our neighbors and providing opportunities for kids, adults, and families to get involved in their community through giving, volunteering, advocating, and getting involved in meaningful ways. We work with volunteers, donors and collaborative partners that span countywide to impact nearly over 20,000 youth, teens, and adults annually. GIVING: The generosity of others is at the core of our existence and is the reason we are able to give back to the communities we serve. We continually engage funders to help us address critical needs in our community; needs like school-readiness, water safety, safe spaces, health, and connections. Through the generosity of our donors and the Y's work in the community, we have provided thousands of youth scholarships to ensure that young people have the opportunity to participate in the Y's character-building programs. Community support comes through several opportunities for businesses and residents to learn about the Y and donate to our cause, including our Annual Support Campaign, YMCA Charity Golf Classic, Y Annual Gala, and other giving opportunities. We view all our donors as partners in our impact and we focus on continual donor stewardship and recognition. VOLUNTEERING: The YMCA is volunteer-founded, volunteer-based, and volunteer-led. Volunteers are at the heart of every YMCA, and that's why YMCAs are at the heart of community life in more than 10,000 communities nationwide. At the Anaheim Family YMCA, volunteers have opportunities to give back in time and expertise through sports, camp, academics, and enrichment programs, and numerous other activities. Volunteers of the Y: Lead our Boards of Directors and committees; Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of the community; Coach our sports teams and teach many of our classes; our Boards of Directors and committees; Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of the community; Coach our sports teams and teach many of our classes; Motivate and support youth in building the character strengths, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, smart life choices, and the pursuit of higher education and goals; Extend a hand to help adults who want to do more, be more or live healthier; Advocate for the Y's efforts to influence policies and initiatives that positively impact societal issues of importance to the nation, and your community; and Participate in opportunities to give back and support neighbors. SOCIAL SERVICES: At the Y, we work collaboratively to make sure every child, family and community has what they need to achieve their best. In Anaheim, we coordinate community service projects and collaborate with a host of organizations to connect people to important community resources. In 2019 the Anaheim Family YMCA partnered with St. Joseph Community Partnership Fund (SJCPF) to be a part of their Community Building Initiative (CBI). CBIs focus is to develop the capacity of the residents it works with to be able to determine and implement positive change in low-income communities by identifying and addressing problems as a community. Through these funds we are able to target community surrounding Ponderosa to help residents come together and impact change in their neighborhood. During the beginning stages the Y staff have set up one-on-one calls with residents to build a relationship and get understanding of the need of that community. COLLABORATION: The Anaheim Family YMCA has demonstrated history of effectively collaborating with community leaders, organizations, and policymakers, including an award-winning after-school collaboration and active involvement to building stronger, healthier communities. Working in collaboration with hundreds of partners, the Y has built a culture of collaboration that positions the Y as a trusted convener to address our community's most critical needs: Safe Spaces (keeping youth safe after school from gangs and other negative influences); Water Safety (preventing drowning, the second leading cause of accidental death in kids 1-14); Health (increasing access to healthy eating and physical activity to prevent obesity and related chronic disease); Learning (closing the achievement gap, preventing Summer learning loss, promote 21st century skills) and Connections (connecting youth, adults and families to the community and resources). The Anaheim Family YMCA is also among the few Ys across the nation selected to pilot national collaborative projects in STEM (science, technology, engineering, math).
