Organizations Filed Purposes:
SERVING THE EDUCATIONAL, FINANCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF KERN COUNTY CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES
THE KERN COUNTY CANCER FUND IS A PROGRAM TO ASSIST KERN COUNTY RESIDENTS WHO NEED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN OBTAINING A DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT FOR CANCER AND ASSOCIATED DISEASES. PROGRAM APPLICANTS ARE INDIVIDUALLY REVIEWED BY A PATIENT ELIGIBILITY COMMITTEE. THE PRIMARY CONSIDERATION FOR ACCEPTANCE IS A DEMONSTRATED NEED FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM A LOCAL PATIENT TO OBTAIN CANCER TREATMENT AND CARE.THE CBCC FOUNDATION TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM ASSISTS QUALIFYING CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES BY TRANSPORTING THEM FREE OF CHARGE TO TREATMENT. THE FOUNDATION COLLABORATES WITH SOCIAL WORKERS AT ALL HOSPITALS TO IDENTIFY CHILDREN THAT CAN BENEFIT FROM THE SERVICE. TRANSPORTATION TO BAKERSFIELD IS ALSO PROVIDED TO ELIGIBLE ADULT PATIENTS LIVING IN OUTLYING AREAS FOR TREATMENT.THE CBCC FOUNDATION EDUCATION CLASSES ARE CONDUCTED TO PROVIDE PATIENTS AND SURVIVORS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THEIR DISEASE AND SHARE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES WITH EACH OTHER. COMMUNITY EDUCATION IS ALSO PROVIDED TO ENHANCE CANCER AWARENESS AND EARLY DETECTION.
