To provide an administrative and programmatic umbrella for 5 client-run self-help mental health programs: Berkeley Drop-In Center, Best now, Reach-Out, Reaching Across, and the Tenant Support Program.
BEST-NOW: Graduated 20 mental health clients who want to work in the Behavioral Health Care field. They attended an 7 week Peer Specialist Training Program and served a 6-month paid internship in an organization that could hire them.
Berkley Drop-in Center is a multipurpose center for people with mental health and/or substance abuse issues, provides peer and group support, housing services, money management/payee program, advocacy from basic survival and other life needs, substance use issues groups, anger management groups for both court-ordered and voluntary participants, recreational and social activities. Approximately 700 clients served.
Tenant Support Program served 250 clients from the community who identified as mental health clients most of whom were homeless. They found housing for 35, getting 10 Everyone Home Loans and putting 25 clients on Shelter Plus Care's waiting list. Staff conducted 6 outreach sessions with Housing Specialists and made 3 presentations with County Everyone Home staff to provider organizations. Expenses: $251,696
