Support and develop low-income affordable cooperative housing.
In 2018 we acquired one new property, a 9-bedroom duplex in Oakland that provides affordable housing to single adults. We entered into a development agreement with the McGee Avenue Baptist Church to renovate an 8-unit apratment building that has been boarded up for many years. We secured a $50,000 predevelopment loan, hired an architect and engineer to develop drawings for the renovation. We conducted several training workshops for low-income housing coopertives and a public event on Emergency Preparedness. We conducted co-op elections for 8 housing cooperatives and actively participated in policy work to amend state law regarding Community Land Trusts and Housing Cooperatives.
