As we celebrate our first 10 years, in which we have granted $1.7 million dollars to 166 filmmakers, we have seen the importance that these films have made in shining a spotlight on the lives and challenges faced by those most inneed. Our filmmakers tell these critical stories by pushing boundaries and inspiring change. During 2019, we have continued our bi-monthly screenings at The New Parkway Theater in Oakland and provided several well-attended workshops for Bay Area documentary filmmakers. Our workshops are funded by a generous grant from the Fleishhacker Foundation and are open to all.Page 2 of 9At our recent Gala, we raised $240,000, taking us a quarter of the way to meeting a $1 million matching grant provided by a generous family foundation. Every dollar you donate will be doubled through this match. As you consider a donation for this year, please consider the following:$20,000 or more enables us to provide a donor -named grant to join the Al Bendich Award, the Saul Zaentz Award and the newly funded Jonathan Logan Family Foundation Elevate grant.$12,000 enables us to fund an additional filmmaker.$5,000 enables us to fund a student filmmaker.$2,500 enables us to partially fund a student filmmaker.$1,000 enables us toprovide mentorship for a film project.Thank you again for making these films possible and for your significant role in helping to tell stories that need to be heard. Your generous support for this very promising year ahead will make all the difference, and I thank you in advance.Warmest and best wishes for the holidays and the new year,Abby Ginzberg, PresidentBerkeley FILM FoundationPage 3 of 9Abby Ginzberg and Janis Plotkin BFF Program DirectorBFF 10TH YEAR GALA WAS A HUGE SUCCESSWe are very grateful to all who joined us at SF Jazzfor the BFF Gala on November 23rd.
