Berkeley High School Development Group's mission is to support and strengthen the educational experience of all BHS students by raising and distributing funds to enhance academic and other projects. We fund after school tutoring, Classroom supplies grants of up to $300 for all classroom teachers, students organizers for all 3100 plus students, replacement ChromeBooks.

THE BERKELEY HIGH SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT GROUP BHSDG received and processed approximately $582,000 in donations and other revenues during the 2019.2020 school year. Approximately 69% of this revenue ($400,000) was directed to or earned by BHSDG to be distributed by our Board. From these unrestricted revenues, BHSDG provided funding for academic, artistic and club programs at Berkeley High School BHS. Ongoing BHSDG initiated programs include: An after-school tutoring program available free for all BHS students. (Note: this program expense was significantly reduced from last year due to the coronavirus pandemic and resulting early school closure) - $37,000; First Step scholarships to qualified college-bound Seniors - $33,000; Classroom supplies grants available to all teachers - $31,000; Student organizers available free to all students - $16,000; College and career support through college application and testing fees - $11,000. Other BHSDG grants included: Technology & equipment, including 108 chromebooks - $43,000; Teacher professional development, departmental retreats, teacher conferences and classroom support, including anti-racism staff training, and civic engagement student education - $29,000; Field trips, guest speakers, and student support, including peer mental health program support - $18,000 BHSDG received approximately $182,000 in donations earmarked for specific learning communities and departments. BHSDG acts as a fiscal agent for these funds, at no cost, providing a significant benefit to these programs. The lead teachers of these programs determine how to use the donations. The funds were used for a wide range of educational and enrichment opportunities. The BHSDG's fundraising and administrative expenses were $30,000 for the school year, which was approximately 8% of total expenses.
