Organizations Filed Purposes:
Disability Rights Advocates (DRA) is one of the leading disability non-profit law firms in the nation. Our mission is to advance equal rights and opportunity for people with all types of disabilities nationwide. DRA works to end discrimination in areas such as access to public accommodations, employment, transportation, education, and housing.
DRA represents people with disabilities whose civil rights have been violated. It identifies and dismantles barriers in partnership with a broad network of local and national client organizations, representing people with the full spectrum of disabilities, including mobility, sensory, cognitive, and psychiatric. DRA represents these organizations in complex, system-change class-action cases. DRA never charges its clients for representation. DRA uses litigation, structured negotiations, advocacy, community education, and media to reform systems and practices that discriminate against people with disabilities.
DRA, a national nonprofit legal center, advocates through high-impact class action litigation on behalf of people with all types of disabilities, including mobility, hearing, vision, learning and mental health. Through negotiation and litigation, DRA has made thousands of entities throughout the country accessible, eliminated discriminatory policies, and has enforced access rights for millions of people with disabilities in many key areas of life, including access to technology, education, employment, transportation and health care.
DRAs non-litigation activities include education, advocacy, referrals, media and outreach. DRAs attorneys regularly provide education about disability rights law via conferences and workshops. DRA advocates for the rights of people with disabilities through amicus briefs, policy advocacy, and some work on behalf of individuals. DRA regularly provides consultations and referrals to individuals seeking assistance. DRA, through media and outreach work, helps inform the public conversation around disability rights and supports partner organizations serving people with disabilities.
