NATIONAL NOVEL WRITING MONTH: 351,489 ADULTS PARTICIPATED IN NANOWRIMO 2015, WITH 40,426 OF THEM "WINNING" BY WRITING OVER 50,000 WORDS DURING THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER. VOLUNTEER-RUN CHAPTERS-PROVIDING ONLINE AND OFF-LINE ENCOURAGEMENT AND AN ONGOING CREATIVE COMMUNITY-EXPANDED TO 634 LOCATIONS IN OVER 60 COUNTRIES. REVISION AND PUBLISHING RESOURCES WERE EXPANDED; PARTICIPANTS WROTE IN THEIR LOCAL LIBRARIES AND BOOKSTORES AS PART OF THE COME WRITE IN OUTREACH INITIATIVE; AND ADVICE EMAILS FROM SIX WELL-KNOWN AUTHORS WERE SENT TO PARTICIPANTS.
THE YOUNG WRITERS PROGRAM: THE YOUNG WRITERS PROGRAM PARTICIPATION BASE FOR NANOWRIMO 2015 WAS 80,137 KIDS, TEENS, AND EDUCATORS PARTICIPATING IN OVER 2,000 K- 12 CLASSROOMS WORLDWIDE. NEARLY 20,000 STUDENTS "WON" BY REACHING THEIR WORD-COUNT GOALS. THE YWP PROVIDES YOUNG WRITERS AND EDUCATORS WITH GRADE-APPROPRIATE RESOURCES, INCLUDING WORKBOOKS AND LESSON PLANS ALIGNED WITH COMMON CORE STANDARDS.
CAMP NANOWRIMO: CAMP NANOWRIMO WELCOMED 57,402 PARTICIPANTS BETWEEN TWO ONLINE CAMP SESSIONS IN APRIL AND JULY. CAMP NANOWRIMO IS A MORE OPEN-ENDED VERSION OF OUR ORIGINAL NOVEMBER EVENT, WITH VARIABLE WORD-COUNT GOALS AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO WRITE NON-NOVEL PROJECTS.
