ReThink Media is a unique, nonprofit organization that strengthens movements and amplifies impact by building sector-wide media and communications capacity and collaboration. ReThink Media works to build the communications capacity of our member groups and the campaigns they run, build sector capacity for strategic collaboration, and amplify sector voice through unified messaging and coordinated action. To inform these efforts, our analysis team tracks media coverage and opinion trends and produces regular analyses-including specific strategy and messaging recommendations in the aggregate and around key media moments To us, success looks like building greater cohesion; centering the voices of the advocates, experts, and community spokespeople that we work with; and reaching and building a broader constituency-a constituency that values and stands up for civil and human rights, a stronger and more representative democracy, and international cooperation and diplomacy.
Democracy Collaborative (DC) works with leading local, regional, and national groups and advocates to ensure that all Americans have an equal voice by promoting judicial and campaign finance reform, increasing transparency, and protecting voting rights. All elections, whether at the federal, state, or local level, are disproportionately affected by those with the most money to spend on campaign contributions. In judicial elections, moneyed interests are working to stack the courts with judges who support their political or commercial interests. Meanwhile, more and more Americans are being excluded from participation by growing limits on voter access and voting rights. To address this, we build groups capacity to shift the narrative -from problems to solutions, from cynicism to action-reach new audiences, make new allies, and strengthen the diversity and impact of a growing movement including members of the emerging New American Majority-communities of color, women, and young people-Democrats and Republicans alike.
Rights and Inclusion Collaborative (SRC) Our Rights and Inclusion team works with Muslim, Arab, Sikh, and South Asian American communities and leaders across the country, with allies opposing hate-crimes and anti-Muslim prejudice, and with U.S.-based Muslim and non-Muslim allies promoting cultural equity and inclusion in the arts. With the support of our partners, ReThink Media launched a Speakers Bureau, a multi-year effort to address the lack of representation of Muslim, Arab, and South Asian American spokespeople in the media. To-date we have trained hundreds of community members and leaders across the country with expertise on a broad range of issues beyond just Islam, Muslims, or nations of origin in subjects as varied as the arts, national security, healthcare, domestic violence, and pop culture. And we have provided hands-on media outreach support to connect this growing network of spokespeople to journalists, producers, and bookers across the country.
Peace and Security Collaborative (PSC) works with the nation's foremost leaders and experts, advocating solutions to some of the most complex and challenging national security issues of the 21st century. These include US policy toward Iran, securing nuclear material around the world, reducing the global nuclear arsenal, and trimming excessive Pentagon spending. In addition, the Organization supports the work of groups addressing conflict prevention, working toward more accountability and transparency for the proliferation and military use of drones and targeting killing, and in support of curtailing the International Arms Trade.
