Organizations Filed Purposes: Ensure that the public lands of the Eastern Sierra exist in an intact, healthy natural state for people and wildlife preservation, stewardship,exploration,and education.

Stewardship - Includes physical programs for protection and restoration of public lands through habitat monitoring and improvement, removal of invasive species,removal of human debris, and maintenance limiting the expansion of human disturbance in natural environments. Programs include construction and maintenance of facilities to allow responsible enjoyment of public lands. Activites include trail and campground maintenance, restoration of disturbed sites, control of invasive species, recovery of resources, and care for wilderness areas. The organization partners with local schools, college groups, donors, local governments, and agency partners. Stewardship projects are often held as part of larger events such as climbing festivals, National Public Lands Day, and trails days.

Preservation - Includes work securing the sound administrative management of species' habitats, human impacts, and integrity of public lands. Programs include engaging in public meetings, providing substantive input on administrative decisions, and building conservatation focused partnerships. Partners include conservation organizations, companies, citzens, land management agencies, and government representatives.

Exploration - Efforts through presentations, outdoor activities, published materials and other mediums to inform the public of the natural heritage and current management practices of public lands. Activities include leading hikes and working with school children. Exploration goals are accomplished through outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and natural history trips; publications, such as the "Jeffrey Pine Journal" and monthly e-news, and outreach events including the Owens Lake Bird Festival and Backcountry Film Festival.
