AFRICAN ENVIRONMENTAL FILM FOUNDATIONAEFFS educational History Series became known as MOMENTS IN TIME.This series, the largest project ever attempted by AEFF, and one seldom, if ever, produced before in Africa, follows Ivory from ancient times to the creation of the Tsavo National Park. It moves on through the repeated crises that threaten Tsavo over the years in the form of poaching, military coups, political instability, climatic hazards until changes in world attitudes towards ivory and the environment in general provide a springboard for the future. The Corvid 19 pandemic created difficulties for progress but not complete disruption. By restricting the team to two people in Tsavo we were able to continue. Joan Poggio in Nairobi (professional editor) and Simon Trevor (Director) at AEFF HQ, using linked computer systems, were able to continue at a reduced output level.Lucy Nganga continued as Nairobi Manager, overseeing accounts and supplying us in Tsavo with the innumerable requirements in the field.When deemed necessary Joan would come to Tsavo on the train for short periods or on two occasions Simon went to Nairobi and stayed in Joans guesthouse at his residence. In this way editing continued for the entire period. Searching for material on the internet and verifying its accuracy took up much time.The writer Harry Hook came to Kenya to work with Simon for short periods on two occasions. After that further visits were put on hold while Simon and Joan continued to assemble episodes, with an explanatory narration written by Simon as a template for the structure of each episode. Some additional filming, including specialised shots using a drone, were carried out. First attempts failed due to malfunction of the drone.Twenty episodes by September had been assembled with template narrations.
