To promote local economic development, administer financial and loan programs, provide assistance in the retention and development of local business, facilitate cluster development, provide technical assistance and training, operate a variety of programs to assist defense dependent industries, and serve as an administartive body for the dissemination of information pertaining to community economic development.
The Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County (EDC-VC), is a public/private partnership that provides businesses with professional consulting, training and lending services to help businesses thrive and add jobs. We are service driven, with activities organized around business retention and expansion, business attraction and the acceleration of entrepreneurship. In 2019, EDC-VC provided business technical assistance to more than 900 firms, contributing to the creation of 389 new jobs, 60 new business start-ups and more than $70 million in new capital infusion for business expansion. EDC-VC also served as the regional lead for international trade consulting, contributing to the creation of 79 new jobs and business access to $17 million for enterprises engages in the global economy. As an alternative lender, EDC-VC continued its work in disaster lending. Over the course of 20 years in lending, nearly 70% of EDC-VC's loan portfolio is comprised of women and minority owned businesses, with more than 100 loans made and totaling nearly $20 million. EDC-VC also continued in its role as the Ventura County Film Commission and continued to play a lead role in regional fire disaster recovery, connecting businesses to resources through FEMA, SBA, local and state offices of emergency services.
