We empower and mobilize youth to create peace through hands-on service, global friendships and thoughtful acts of kindness.
We empower and mobilize youth to create peace. Our three programs are: The Peace Pledge Program, The Great Kindness Challenge, and Kind, Caring & Creative in the Age of COVID-19.
Through Kids for Peace, young people actively engage in socially conscious leadership, community service, arts, environmental stewardship and global friendships. Since 2007, Kids for Peace has launched over 510 interconnected chapters around the world. Our Peace Pledge continues to be shared in settings small and large. Kids for Peace also continued to support the Kids for Peace School in Kenya and the building of a water well. With kids leading the way, peace is possible!
In 2020, The Great Kindness Challenge, our signature program, engaged 15,000,452 students in 28,062 schools who accomplished over half a billion acts of kindness. Through this program, Kids for Peace accomplished the building of a new health clinic in Liberia, Africa, which was 100% funded by Kids for Peace youth. We also launched our new "You Are Loved Backpack Project" with hundreds of backpacks delivered to refugee children at the US/Mexican border.
Kind, Creative and Connected In the Age of Covid-19 was created for youth sheltering in place at home and for schools who needed Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) tools for their students. Fourteen new projects were created to put youth's compassion into action, connect with other kids around the world, address their own self-care and encourage hope, positivity and optimism. Through our Peaceful Pen Pals Project, 2,005 youth in 23 countries and all 50 states made new friends through good old fashioned letter writing! Through our Loving Letters for Grandfriends Project, 1,973 letters were written and sent to homebound seniors to brighten their spirits. More than 255,000 people participated in our Happy Heart Hunt by sharing beautifully decorated hearts placed for all to see. We developed a virtual summer camp, Camp Kids for Peace, with 123 youth participating and 38 full scholarships granted.
