Organizations Filed Purposes:
In perpetuity sponsorship of annual Buddhist Tibetan Nyingma World Peace Ceremonies at Bodh Gaya, India including: daily offerings to monastic participants; ceremony offerings of butter lamps, candles, tsog (food), flowers; and daily food offerings to the local poor. Head Lama of the Tibetan Nyingma Meditation Center (501c3 Church) Yeshe De Project religious text books and art are transported to Bodh Gaya where they are freely distributed to monastic and lay practitioners.
Funds were transferred to the parent organization, Head Lama of the Tibetan Nyingma Meditation Center in December 2020. The January 2021 annual ceremony was cancelled due to the pandemic, but there was a request to fund the monasteries who normally would have gathered for the ceremony to hold satellite ceremonies in their own locations, protected from COVID-19. Accordingly, these funds were withdrawn in preparation for distribution to the monastery ceremonies throughout India and the Himalayan region.
The Annual 10 day ceremony was held in January 2020, with an average daily attendance of over 7700 monastics and additional thousands of lay participants. 91,000 Head Lama of TNMC Yeshe De projects were freely distributed to all participants. Daily offerings included candles, food, flowers, a meal for the local poor, and 100,000 butter lamps. See 2018 Form 990 Part III Line 4b which includes $161,000 funding for this Jan 2020 program.
