Organizations Filed Purposes:
Our mission is to provide sisterhood among women, scholarship, leadership and Asian awareness in the University and community. Further, to provide a support group for those in their time of need and to encourage the making of successful women.
Our organization consists of volunteers on our Board of Directors, National Board, and National Alumnae Board cabinets, as well as our active members at Universities and alumnae members of our National Alumnae Association. All positions, are voluntary and promote leadership as well as experience valuable to future career endeavors. Each chapter also has its own cabinet of positions. The Board of Directors, National Board, and National Alumnae Board meet each Fall, and the National Board officers also meet in the Spring. Nationally, we hold three meetings per academic school year which consist of the Back to School Retreat, Midyear Meeting and National Convention. During each conference, members are trained to uphold our purpose and mission. Leadership training, guest speakers, and networking occur to establish professional connections. Our organization supports scholarship by holding academic study hours at each of the chapter campuses. Each member must comply with University and sorority academic standards in order to remain an active member of alpha Kappa Delta Phi. Annually at our National Convention, the chapter with the highest grade point average is awarded with the Scholastic Excellence Award. All members of alpha Kappa Delta Phi support philanthropy, and individual chapters are required to participate in a minimum of two service activities per term. Our national philanthropy is Breast Cancer Awareness, and chapters spend the month of October engaged in service dedicated to this area in their various communities. This year, chapters held various fundraisers and workshops, and the contributions were donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Lastly, our organization promotes Asian Awareness in the universities and communities by hosting cultural awareness events and participating in campus organizations (i.e. Chinese American Student Association, Vietnamese Student Association, Japanese Student Association, etc.). Our members strive to uphold our organization's purpose and values, and the chapter who has best exemplified all our pillars is recognized as Chapter of the Year. Based on all of the information above, our organization has fulfilled its purpose as an exempt organization that uses all funding to provide sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, service and Asian Awareness in the universities and communities through various events and training. We are non-profit and pay insurance premiums to ensure the safety of our members and organization.
