Air Show Program:Planes of Fame Air Museum is unique among aviation museums because it maintains a flyable cadre of aircraft, fulfilling its mission to preserve and display historic aircraft for the benefit of current and future generations. The museum holds monthly Living History events that show case one aircraft at a time, flown to highlight the comments of the speakers who bring history to life for our visitors. The culmination of the maintenance and restoration efforts at the museum is the annual air show in May when the museum rolls out most of its fleet of aircraft to exhibit them to the public. This program features the many rare aircraft in the museum collection flown just for the air show as well as the 'work horsesX like the P-51 Mustang that are flown more often. The history lesson given by pairing aircraft in the air that in wartime were combatants teach our audience about the valor and determination of the brave men who through time have fought for their countries.
