Organizations Filed Purposes:
The mission of the Sylvia Bozeman and Rhonda Hughes EDGE Foundation is to strengthen the ability of female students to successfully complete graduate programs in the mathematical sciences. In addition to a summer program for entering graduate students, the EDGE Foundation provides ongoing support for women pursuing careers in the mathematical sciences at several critical stages of their careers.
The EDGE Foundation supports programs whose goal is to strengthen the ability of women students to successfully complete PhD programs in the mathematical sciences and to place more women and underrepresented minorities in visible leadership roles in the mathematical sciences.
The EDGE SUMMER PROGRAM. The EDGE summer program is an intensive immersion experience where a cohort of new graduate students, plus three graduate mentors, five faculty, a difficult dialogues facilitator and guest speakers work together to provide a secure academic foundation and supportive network for the next years of graduate school. The program incorporates a conference at the half-way point, where previous cohorts and speakers join the current cohort to share research, experiences, and advice. This conference serves to enlarge the support network of the participants. The entire 2020 program was virtual due to COVID-19.
