Organizations Filed Purposes:
Increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues involving Autism, advocating for appropriate services, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research, support and advocacy.
Community Outreach - over 4,970 individuals attended one of our 12 outreach events.Education & Training - over 2,074 attended one of our 23 educational presentations on a variety of topics from navigating the medical insurance system to learning how to advocate with policy makers. Information & Referral Services - Through emails, calls and Face book over 2,935 inquires were made. We are finding about 30% of these calls are families in crisis.
Support and Family Services, over 5,634 individuals attended one of our Family Events in 2018. These include our month events such as Sensory Friendly movies, Sky High Nights,Legos with Friends Club and our Teen/Adult Groups as well as our larger events like Water park Day and our Holiday parties.
Public Policy concerning early intervention, employment and safety for adults with autism:Diagnosis & Early intervention - Work with local organizations to develope brochures for professionals & families explaining the navigation through the assessment process through medical insurance, Regional Center and school Services.Public Policy - Safety initiative - We continue to train First Responders as well as safety classes for adults with autism.Employment - Help bring in subject matter experts in job matching and customized employment to the Inland Empire to train existing vendors and bring new, innovative programs to the Inland Empire.Latino Outreach - Making our services accessible to the Spanish speaking community.Advocacy - In 2018, the Autism Society met with state policy makers to emphasize the need to reinstate Social Recreation Services through Regional Centers.
