To bring hope, healing and joy through live music and the performing arts to people who are disadvantaged, marginalized, or otherwise isolated in diverse institutional settings in the San Francisco Bay Area.
To produce free, live music and entertainment for Bay Area children, teens, adults, and elders who dont have the ability to easily experience the uplifting power of the arts in any other way.
BREAD & ROSES COMBATS HOPELESSNESS, PROMOTES HEALING, AND UPLIFTS SPIRITS BY PRODUCING ANNUALLY MORE THAN 650 FREE LIVE, HIGH QUALITY PERFORMANCES (MUSIC, COMEDY,DANCE, ETC.) FOR ISOLATED AND INSTITUTIONALIZED CHILDREN, TEENS, ADULTS AND ELDERS IN MORE THAN 120 SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA INSTITUTIONS (HOSPITALS, HOMELESS SHELTERS, DRUG & ALCOHOL REHAB, SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOOLS, JAILS AND MORE.)BREAD & ROSES WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PRODUCE 653 SHOWS THIS YEAR WITHOUT THE USE OF 1,036 VOLUNTEERS, INCLUDING 852 MUSICIANS AND 184 OTHER VOLUNTEERS WHO ASSIST WITH EVENTS AND OFFICE WORK. THE VALUE OF IN-KIND SERVICES THAT ARE REQUIRED TO BE RECOGNIZED ON THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS TOTALED $301,207 IN 2019. WITH A PAID PROGRAM STAFF OF 4 FTE, IT IS CLEAR THAT THE USE OF VOLUNTEERS IS INTEGRAL TO DELIVERY OF SERVICES AND FULFILLMENT OF OUR MISSION. (CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O)
BREAD & ROSES PROVIDES EDUCATION REGARDING ITS INSTITUTIONALIZED AUDIENCES TO THE PUBLIC IN NEWSLETTERS, ON ITS WEBSITE, AND AT COMMUNITY EVENTS AND CONCERTS, THEREBY RAISING AWARENESS OF THE NEEDS OF THOSE WHO LIVE IN ISOLATED CIRCUMSTANCES AND THE INSTITUTIONS THAT SERVE THEM.
