The Davis Farmers Market Alliance's mission is to operate community supported certified farmers markets that sustain a diversity of California farmers and food producers, support local businesses, build community relationships and educate consumers about agriculture, food and nutrition.
TO OPERATE COMMUNITY CERTIFIED FARMERS MARKETS
FARM VISITS - The Alliance sponsors local farm visits for second graders. Students gain a deeper understanding of the connections among the environment, farming, and where their food comes from by meeting with farmers, participating in farm activities, and tasting a farm-fresh snack. The farm visits support grade level standards in history, language arts, and science.
FARM AND GARDEN BASED EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS - The Alliance supports gardens throughout all schools in the Davis Joint Unified School District. The Alliance offers a competitive matching garden grant program to all interested school sites in Davis, CA.
