Bear Hawk Education Services provides HIV and outreach services to high risk populations in the Coachella Valley.
During the fiscal year, 89 programs were provided for 892 participants, 29 of whom were under age 22. Of the 728 HIV tests given, 173 had never before been tested and none of those tested positive. A total of 7,230 ancillary half hours were spent covering both HIV and Hep C prevention services. Of the 300 Hepatitis C tests given, 145 had never before been tested and 24 tested positive. A total of 1,028 combined tests were administered. No tests were done during the month of December, due to the fact that no payments were received from the County of Riverside (our only source of income) for 4 months. Thus we did not make our contracted total of 1,825.
