Family Services of the Desert strives to improve the quality of life in Eastern Riverside County by providing food assistance, community outreach and support services which strengthen families and build healthy communities.
Food Assistance: The agency provides weekly suplemental food distributions for low income residents of the western Coachella Valley. For FY 2019/2020 the agency distributed approximately 810,000 pounds of food, enough food for approximately 440,000 meals. 1,580 households received food assistance including 3,884 individual, (1,928 adults, 966 seniors, and 990 children). Homeless Needs Program: 289 clients reported they had no permanent place of residence. The agency provides daily distributions of a special food package for clients who are unsheltered. Food items are ready to eat and require no special handling, opening, heating or refrigeration. In addition they will receive weekly supplies of personal hygiene items.Home Deliveries: Food Now makes home deliveries to disabled veterans and others who are housebound due to a medical necessity.
