10 Books A Home (10BH)is a nonprofit organization that offers a new early education solution to families in high poverty communities who are dissatisfied with the high rate of student failure in their community and who want to prevent their children from suffering the same fate. According to student report cards we collect, 100% of children to go through our free preschooler home tutoring program in the past two years have outperformed their student peers.
Child-Parent Home Tutoring Program provides free, in-home, one-on-one tutoring to preschool-aged children. Tutoring is provided by volunteer Role Models who serve as teachers and role models for Learners and their parents.During each lesson,the Role Model administers a set of learning activities that s/he believes the Learner will find engaging, and over time, working with staff,fine tunes each lesson to center on the Learners intrinsic motivations. Parents are required to participate during lessons, and working with staff, learn how to effectively replicate learning activities between lessons through family reading and other educational activities. Families are given books and other education materials in order to give families the resources needed to sustain learning activities on a regular basis. When children graduate the program they attend a graduation ceremony and receive School -Readiness Degree. Each year after graduating until completing high school, 10BH tracks the academic achievement of alum by collecting report cards.
