Organizations Filed Purposes:
FCE's mission is to increase the number of low-income students of color from East Palo Alto, California and surrounding communities who graduate with a degree from a four-year college or university. FCE was founded out of a desire to improve the social and economic conditions of East Palo Alto residents. FCEs belif is that education can be a powerful tool for individual, family, and community change.

College Scholarship ProgramThe College Scholarship Program offers competitive scholarships to help offset the costs associated with funding a college education. Scholarships, which are funded by individual and foundation donors, play a key role in ensuring that low-income students complete college within five years.
College Bound ProgramBelieving that high expectations lead to high achievement, FCE has developed a program that encourages low-income students to pursue advanced academic work so they are prepared to succeed in college. Under the College Bound Program, students receive tutoring, leadership development, college planning and counseling, plus financial aid and scholarship application guidance. One hundred percent of FCE's students graduate from high school and enroll in post-secondary institutions. Eighty-five percent of them complete college within 5 years. FCE helps students develop the academic skills and self-confidence to succeed in college and beyond.
STEAM ProgramSTEAM program helps middle school students develop the skills needed to take college preparatory classes in high school. Middle school students attend twice weekly, after school sessions, which focus on academics, subject tutoring and workshops to develop the curiosity, persistence and resilience to become successful. Participation of a parent or guardian is mandatory helping to ensure that parents at the same time develop effective ways of providing academic and emotional support through the middle school and high school years and the family together increases their understanding of what it will take to enroll in college. This is a year-round program that helps middle school students develop the curiosity, persistence, and resilience to become successful learners and adolescents.
