Organizations Filed Purposes: Nuestra Casa exists to uplift Latino families in East Palo Alto and the mid-peninsula through community education, leadership development, and advocacy.

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE PROGRAM - We're proud to be leading an effort towards environmental justice that expands beyond our local communities to broader San Mateo County. Nuestra Casa advocates, informs, and trains members of our disadvantaged community to become environmental justice leaders. By teaching and unlocking our local communities of color's leadership potential, they can understand, develop, and prioritize local solutions to more comprehensively address environmental equity and justice issues. We believe our community can do more than survive but thrive in this climate reality. Our programming in this area includes community engagement workshops, food recovery and distribution, and an environmental justice parent academy.

RED COMUNITARIA PROGRAM - The Red Comunitaria Program recruits and trains local women to become promotoras, who are agents of change in their community. Our unique model trains, supports, and coaches promotoras to take ownership of their neighborhood. These passionate leaders are parents and trusted messengers in our community who care deeply about justice and equity. They organize neighbors, facilitate workshops, and guide our programmatic priorities. We host an annual promotora training to build upon their leadership, advocacy, and outreach skills as well as their knowledge of community resources and initiatives. Our promotoras were instrumental in our census 2020 campaign. They started conducting outreach about the census during December 2019 and have worked steadfastly to ensure a fair and accurate count of our hard-to-count community.

ADULT ESL PROGRAM - The Adult ESL Program is designed to engage and serve the English proficiency needs of our immigrant Latino families. Our program cycle operates for 33 weeks during the regular school year and all services are free of charge to community members.
