Alles Institute for Medical Research continued its collaborative research project at Massachusetts General Hospital in 2020. The researcher is exploring a quantitative PCR method to test the genetic expression of T-regulatory cells. PCR is a technique used to amplify DNA to generate millions of copies of a particular DNA sequence. Through side-by-side comparison of PCR and flow cytometry methods, she will be able to track the accuracy of PCR results. The findings of this research may provide a new, accurate, and more effective technique for tracking T-regulatory cells in type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune research.
