Program: Further ReachFurther Reach has continued to expand its service area to bring broadband Internet connectivity to un/underserved areas. We increased our network speed to now offer up to 110Mbs symmetric connections. We built, what we believe to be, the worlds highest capacity solar power relay station. We have improved our process for installation radio gear in trees. As about 40% of new installations are in trees, it is imperative that we improve our success rate using custom drone technology. We improved reliability using new mounting techniques. We were able to comfortably expand network capacity as usage patterns increased sharply due to COVID. We rolled out new discount programs for those experiencing financial hardship. We added phone support, office hours and the ability to schedule calls - a fan favorite of the local community.
Program: CelerateThe open source WISP Controller project has matured greatly this year. The product design and development team has growth with the addition of a new Head of Product and new developers. We have reworked our management process to better organize our short and long term priorities and to drive efficiency and increasing speed into our weekly development cycle. We have rebuilt our development and staging environments and deployment processes.New capabilities have been added to the controller including: hierarchical smokeping for the node dashboard, the customer agreement and customizable order form have been deeply integrated into the controller to ensure agreements are clearly memorialized, a notification module that can be configured to send notices to a Slack channel or by email, as well as many smaller enhancements and bug fixes.
