THE INSTITUTE WORKS TO FORSTER AND SUPPORT A) THE TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY FROM THE NATION'S R&D ORGANIZATIONS TO THE COMMERCIAL INDUSTRIAL SECTOR, ESPECIALLY TO THE COMMUNITY OF EARLY-STAGE HIGH-TECH COMPANIES, AND B) THE COMMERCIALIZATION OF TECHNOLOGIES THAT HAVE BEEN TRANSFERRED IN THIS PROCESS.
DURING THE REPORTING PERIOD, THE INSTITUTE WORKED WITH ONE COMPANY TO COMMERCIALIZE A TECHNOLOGY LICENSED FROM A DOE LABORATORY.
Further to facilitate the development of the nation's high-technology enterprise, the institute works to jump start high-tech companies. The main activity of the institute in this effort is our "business venture accelerator" under which the institute operates and "incubator" for such companies.During the reporting period, the institute worked with one company to support its growth.
The institute also works to provide hands-on education and training for future entrepreneurs, especially interns who are college and university students.During the reporting period, the institute engaged no interns.
