U.S.- Mexico Alliance Partnership:The Alliance Partnership is a collaborative program between the Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG), The Council of State Governments (CSG), The National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), U.S. Agency for International Development (INL) and others aimed at enhancing U.S.Mexico cooperation. The goal of the attorney general element of the U.S.Mexico State Alliance Partnership is to strengthen and promote collaboration among state attorneys general from both countries. Bi national exchanges and workshops organized through CWAG, along with NAAG, Mexico's Federal Attorney General's Office (PGR), Mexico's.National Conference of Attorneys General (CNPJ), and Mexico state attorneys general provide a unique opportunity to establish innovative mechanisms that enable dynamic synergies and cross-jurisdictional cooperation on many law enforcement issues. 2008proved to be a dynamic year for the program. The New Mexico State Legislature enacted legislation aimed at criminalizing human trafficking that originated from discussions and informational exchanges among Alliance Partnership members. Arizona and several other state legislators are now considering similar legislation. This collaborative alliance is on the path to identifying needs and solutions where members can exercise their jurisdictional prerogatives to make a substantial impact within their states and communities.

The Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG) is a bipartisan group, originally of Western states, now including a majority of U.S. states and several other countries. Initially organized around legal areas of interests such as water, Indians, public lands, minerals and energy, CWAG has expanded to providing bipartisan discussions focusing on the legal developments in emerging issues facing Attorneys General as well as Rule of Law programing in the country of Mexico and seven African nations.CWAGs primary focus in the United States is to provide a forum for chief legal officers of member states and jurisdictions to cultivate knowledge, cooperate on concerns and coordinate actions which improve the quality of legal services available to members. These conferences vary in focus and messaging, but always include important public policy discussions. These conferences are attended by Attorneys General and their staff from within the CWAG region, across the country and often include an international component. CWAGs coordination of litigation and information is vital in assisting the interplay between federal, state and foreign officials.
